Where the settings are

Every setting this manual asks you to change, with the path written out for iPhone and iPad, Android, Windows, Mac, Chromebook, your Apple, Google or Microsoft account and the three largest phone companies.

Each row gives the steps one action at a time, then the same path as a short recap. Every path is copied from the maker's or the company's own help page, named in the last column with the date we checked it. Menus change with updates; if a step does not match your screen, the help page is the place to look. Android rows show a Google Pixel; other makers' menus differ, and Samsung Galaxy rows are listed where Samsung publishes its own path.

Limits

A path shows where a setting is, not whether it suits your accounts. Some settings depend on the version your device runs, and some carriers and makers change menus. The company's own help page settles any difference.
